The things people ask us first.
About the portal, who does the work, and what working together looks like. Still wondering about something? Email Kara.
What does Book Detailing do?
We keep the financial data your company runs on: bookkeeping, payroll and HR support, bill pay, invoicing and collections, sales tax, cash flow forecasting, loans and lender reporting, and fractional CFO work, which means part-time financial leadership without a full-time salary. We're at home with several companies under one owner, family offices, franchisors, nonprofits and public companies.
What is the client portal?
One private website, at portal.bookdetailing.com, that brings together every bank account, credit card, payroll, loan and sale across every company you own, under one login. It's kept current from your banks, your payroll and your point of sale, so the numbers talk to each other: payroll against sales, every card's rate and due date, every loan ranked by what it costs, and cash for the next 30 days. It's built around your own setup, each person you choose gets their own sign-in, and it works on your phone.
Is my information safe in the portal?
Each client's portal is its own: one client's information never reaches another. Everyone signs in with their own account, bank and card data is encrypted with a key unique to each client, and every change is logged. Our privacy policy has the details.
Who will actually work on my books?
Landon and Kara Wiland lead every client relationship, with a small local team behind them. Whoever handles your books day to day, we oversee all of it, we know your companies, and you can always reach us.
Where are you located? Do you work outside Tulsa?
Our roots and our deepest network are in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and we work with companies across the country, from New York to California.
What software do you use?
QuickBooks is where we live. We also work with payroll providers like Paychex and Gusto. Tell us what you use today, and we'll talk through how it fits.
What kinds of companies do you work with?
Everything from S corps and LLCs to 501(c)(3) nonprofits and public companies. Many of our clients trust us with more than one of their companies.
How much experience do you have?
Fifteen years. We've taken over the books of more than 100 companies, and more than $25 million a year runs through the books we keep.
My books are a mess. Can you still help?
Yes. Messy books are normal. Of the more than 100 companies whose books we've taken over, only one arrived in good shape. Getting you caught up is part of the work.
Can you take over from my current bookkeeper?
Yes. Most of our clients came to us after being let down by someone else. We pick up where things were left, fix what needs fixing, and Landon and Kara are with you from day one.
What does switching look like?
It starts with a free consultation, where we look at where your books stand today and what your business needs. From there, we build a plan around you, take over the work, and clean up anything left behind. You won't have to manage the handoff on your own.
Do you work with my CPA?
Yes, and we're glad to. We work directly with your CPA and hand over clean, organized records, so tax season goes faster, costs less, and your CPA can focus on what they do best.
Why do clean books matter more now that businesses use AI?
AI tools read your financial data and give confident answers, whether the numbers are right or not. Wrong numbers in means wrong answers out. We keep your data right, so the tools you rely on are worth trusting.
How much does it cost?
There's no one-size-fits-all package or subscription here. We've seen too many business owners get burned by our industry that way. We've never met two companies with the same needs, so we build what works best for yours and price it to fit. It all starts with a free consultation.
